On the Fence

Actually on the fences.

Or perhaps ode on a fence.

Or ode on the fences.

Anyway…

while the crew from Habersham Gardens was installing the plants, the guys from Marietta Fence were busy installing fences. They started on top of the upper retaining wall in the back yard.

They took the second hand fence I had gotten on Craigslist and pieced it together expertly through the curve,

down the hill,

around the corner,

and even across the knee wall where we needed a much shorter version:

Then they got to work on the lower retaining walls. Does the following photo make anyone else think of Caddyshack?

No gophers were harmed, however. He was just core drilling the wall to put the fence posts in.

They took the fence around the bend,

down the hill,

and tapered it down to a wee fence at the lower column.

See how well they did?

With the back all secured, they moved around front. After removing the old ivy covered chain link fence and gate,

they put it in new posts,

P1180190

added rails,

and before long, they had had a really great look fence curving out from the driveway.

We even have a fence of sorts (a handrail anyway) on the screen porch, courtesy of DC Enclosures.

Looks great, doesn’t it?

Now it’s time for a gate!
